This is a short list of six real FDE and GTM engineering job postings at five companies, each checked on the employer's own job board. Start by reading what each job asks you to own, because the same title can mean very different work.
A forward-deployed engineer usually builds things with and for customers. A GTM (go-to-market) engineer might build the sales team's internal systems, automate customer workflows, or hold a sales job with technical work attached. Read the scope before you compare employers.

These five employers had relevant postings on their own job boards when checked. They're examples to look into, not endorsements, a complete list, or proof that a company is growing its team.

Builds for customers and turns what works into reusable software. The role asks for 7+ years of full-stack experience and up to 50% travel, the heaviest travel ask on this list.
- Anthropic · Open posting checked September 17; recheck before applying
Builds production apps inside customer systems, including MCP servers and agent integrations. The posting asks for 4+ years of customer-facing technical work and estimates 25% travel.
- Baseten · Open posting checked September 17; recheck before applying
Takes a customer from defining the problem through deploying and monitoring it on Baseten. The job mixes hands-on engineering, product ownership and pre-sales work, and asks for 2+ years of professional experience.

Runs Clay's internal Salesforce and Clay setup: data quality, CPQ, billing and the connections between systems. This is an experienced systems role, not one of Clay's sales-focused GTM Engineer jobs.

Helps customers plan and build generative AI, then feeds what it learns back into AIP. The posting wants prior LLM work, strong coding and up to 25% client travel, and names no minimum years of experience.
The directory
Six postings were checked against the public job boards of OpenAI, Anthropic, Baseten, Clay and Palantir on September 17, 2026. Baseten appears twice because its FDE role and its internal GTM role are different jobs. A posting may close between that check and your visit.
Each note separates the date it was checked from the dates the job board reports, and those dates mean different things. Ashby shows when a post was last published. Greenhouse can show when it was first published. Lever's creation date doesn't tell you when it went live. An old date doesn't mean a role is closed.
All six are experienced-level roles. A salary or a title alone doesn't mean there's an entry-level opening.

Compare the work before the title

Clay is a good reminder to read titles carefully. Its board has GTM Engineer sales jobs as well as systems work. This list picks the Systems & Infrastructure posting. It doesn't count every matching title as a software engineering job.
The OpenAI role here asks for more experience and more travel than most of the others. Anthropic names three US offices. Baseten lists more locations than the main city a search result shows. Keep those details when you build a shortlist. Don't let a generic "US" or "remote" label decide whether you're eligible.
This list is a hand-picked selection. The career hub's separate FDE title sample counts matching postings on a fixed set of job boards. GTM postings belong here but fall outside that count. Neither number tells you how many people a company plans to hire.
Build an application around evidence
Read what an FDE does, then use the career hub to plan what to learn. A portfolio project should show the user's problem, what you connected, the constraint that changed your design, and how you checked the result. Strip out private customer details before you share it.
Use the FDE interview guide to practice explaining tradeoffs. Save the posting and the date when you apply, so you can talk about the version you actually read.
